These mummy hot dogs are a quick and adorable Halloween treat made with hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough, baked until golden, and finished with mustard eyes. Perfect for parties, school lunches, or a fun weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • Mustard for the eyes
  • Shredded mozzarella or cheddar (optional)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • Dipping sauces: ketchup, mustard, ranch dressing, or sriracha mayo (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into the pre-perforated triangles. You should have 8 triangles.
  3. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 to 4 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Take one hot dog and wrap the dough strips around it, leaving small gaps between the strips so the hot dog shows through. Start at one end and work your way to the other, overlapping slightly. Leave a small space at one end for the face.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about an inch apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  7. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet.
  8. Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, dab a tiny dot of mustard onto the exposed hot dog at the face end to create eyes.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, keep the dough cold while working. Leave gaps in the wrapping to allow steam to escape and prevent soggy dough. For extra golden color, brush with an egg wash before baking. You can wrap the hot dogs up to 2 hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
