These fun and easy mummy hot dogs are wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, baked until golden, and finished with mustard eyes. Perfect for Halloween parties, movie nights, or a quick weeknight dinner that brings a smile.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (standard size, beef recommended)
  • 1 can (8-count) crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Ketchup (for dipping, optional)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. Press the perforated seams together gently to form a large rectangle.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into 8-10 strips, each about ½ inch (1.25 cm) wide.
  4. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog at a slight angle, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of the hot dog exposed at the top for the face. Overlap the dough slightly and press the end to seal. Repeat with remaining hot dogs.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Dip a toothpick or small knife into yellow mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed hot dog section.
  9. Serve immediately with ketchup for dipping, if desired.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature crescent dough and don’t over-wrap the hot dogs. Press the dough ends firmly to prevent unrolling. Add mustard eyes after baking to keep them from melting. Variations include spicy mummies (sriracha), cheesy mummies (cheddar tucked under dough), and everything bagel mummies (seasoning before baking). Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for 3 minutes. Unbaked wrapped hot dogs can be frozen for up to 3 months; bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes to the baking time.
