A simple and comforting slow cooker recipe featuring tender chicken breasts cooked with cream cheese and ranch seasoning for a creamy, cheesy dish that’s perfect for busy days or lazy Sundays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 oz full fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • Optional: 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional: 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry the chicken breasts. Slice horizontally if thick for even cooking.
  2. Place chicken breasts flat in the bottom of the slow cooker in a single layer.
  3. Cut softened cream cheese into chunks and scatter over the chicken.
  4. Sprinkle ranch seasoning evenly over the cream cheese and chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until chicken is tender.
  6. Shred the chicken directly in the crockpot using two forks.
  7. If using shredded cheddar cheese, sprinkle over chicken and cover for 5-10 minutes until melted.
  8. Stir in cooked bacon bits just before serving if desired.
  9. Serve warm, garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Adjust seasoning with salt or pepper as needed.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth melting. Avoid overcooking chicken to prevent dryness. Shred chicken directly in the crockpot to save dishes and enhance flavor. If sauce is too thick, add a splash of chicken broth or milk before shredding; if too thin, leave lid off for last 15 minutes to reduce. Optional add-ins like cheddar cheese and bacon bits add extra flavor and texture.
