This creamy, spicy, and tangy buffalo chicken dip is made with just five simple ingredients and a slow cooker. It’s the perfect last-minute appetizer for game day, potlucks, or any party, and it always gets devoured.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon crumbled blue cheese (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken: If using a rotisserie chicken, remove skin and bones. Shred the meat using two forks to get about 2 cups.
  2. Soften the cream cheese: Cut the cream cheese into cubes to help it melt faster.
  3. Combine in the crockpot: Place cubed cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, and ranch dressing into the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
  4. Cook on low: Cover and cook on LOW for 2 hours. Do not cook on high if possible.
  5. Stir halfway through: After about 1 hour, stir the dip well, scraping the sides and bottom.
  6. Check and serve: After 2 hours, the dip should be hot, bubbly, and smooth. Stir, taste, and adjust seasoning if needed.
  7. Garnish and keep warm: Sprinkle with green onions and blue cheese if desired. Switch crockpot to ‘Warm’ setting for serving.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature cream cheese and shred chicken while warm. Avoid overcooking to prevent grainy texture. Can be made ahead and reheated.
