This grilled peach crisp features smoky, caramelized peaches topped with a crunchy oat pecan topping, all made on the grill for a quick and easy summer dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large ripe but firm peaches (halved and pitted)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup pecans (chopped)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (for serving)
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 375-400°F (190-200°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine ½ cup rolled oats, ½ cup chopped pecans, ¼ cup flour, ¼ cup packed brown sugar, ¼ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon. Stir together with a fork. Add 3 tablespoons cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs with some pea-sized butter pieces remaining. Pop the bowl in the fridge while you prep the peaches.
  3. Wash your peaches and pat them dry. Cut each peach in half along the seam, then twist to separate. Remove the pit. In a small bowl, melt 2 tablespoons butter and stir in 1 tablespoon honey and ½ teaspoon cinnamon. Brush this mixture onto the cut sides of the peach halves.
  4. Place the peaches cut-side down on the preheated grill grates. Cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes. Flip them over using tongs and cook for another 2-3 minutes. The peaches should be tender but still hold their shape.
  5. Transfer the grilled peach halves to your cast iron skillet, arranging them cut-side up in a single layer. You can leave them as halves or slice them into wedges. Sprinkle the oat pecan mixture evenly over the peaches.
  6. Place the skillet back on the grill (or transfer to a 375°F/190°C oven if you prefer). Close the lid and cook for 8-10 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling around the edges.
  7. Remove the skillet from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Serve warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Garnish with fresh mint if desired.

Notes

Choose ripe but firm peaches. Keep the topping cold for crunchiness. Don’t overcrowd the grill. Watch the grill temperature. The topping can be made up to 3 days in advance.
