Crispy, buttery, and garlicky chicken wings made in the air fryer in under 30 minutes. Perfect for game day or a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings (about 12–16 wings, separated into drumettes and flats)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (not baking soda)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large bowl, combine baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Add the dried wings and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (about 3-5 minutes).
  4. Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if needed.
  5. Cook at 380°F for 12 minutes. Flip the wings and cook for another 10-12 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F and skin is golden and crispy.
  6. While wings cook, make the sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in parmesan, parsley, and red pepper flakes.
  7. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl, pour the sauce over, and toss gently to coat. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pat wings very dry for crispy skin. Use baking powder, not baking soda. Apply sauce right before serving to keep wings crispy. For a dairy-free version, use vegan butter and nutritional yeast.
