This spiderweb pizza is a fun and easy Halloween dinner that looks impressive but is laughably simple to make. With a crispy crust, gooey cheese, and a sour cream web, it’s a crowd-pleaser that even skeptics will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made pizza crust (12-inch, store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 30–40 slices pepperoni (about 4 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (full-fat)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (any kind)
  • Black olives (sliced, optional for spider bodies)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a rack in the center position.
  2. If using a store-bought crust, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. Place it on a baking sheet or pizza pan lined with parchment paper.
  3. Spread the pizza sauce evenly, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edge.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  5. Arrange the pepperoni slices in a circle around the outer edge of the pizza, leaving the center empty.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the crust is golden-brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  7. While the pizza bakes, whisk together the sour cream and milk in a small bowl until smooth. It should be thick but pourable.
  8. Let the pizza cool for 2 minutes after baking.
  9. Fill a squeeze bottle or zip-top bag with the sour cream mixture. Starting from the center, squeeze a small dot, then work outward in a spiral.
  10. Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, gently drag lines from the center outward to create spokes, then drag lines in a circular motion between the spokes to create the web effect.
  11. Optionally, place two black olive slices near the center to look like spider bodies.
  12. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

Let the pizza cool for 2 minutes before adding the web to prevent the sour cream from melting. Use full-fat sour cream for the best consistency. For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free crust. For a dairy-free version, use vegan cheese and sour cream alternatives.
