These Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs are a quick and easy weeknight dinner with a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The sauce caramelizes into a thick, glossy glaze that clings to tender, juicy chicken thighs, making it a crowd-pleaser that looks and tastes like you spent hours on it.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2.53 lbs total)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, extra honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position the rack in the middle of the oven.
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch until the cornstarch is completely dissolved.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken thighs skin-side up in a 9×13-inch baking dish in a single layer with a little space between each piece.
  5. Drizzle the honey garlic sauce evenly over the chicken thighs.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Carefully remove the dish from the oven. Using tongs, flip each chicken thigh over so the skin-side is down. Spoon some of the pan sauce over the top of each piece.
  8. Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F/74°C) and the sauce has reduced to a thick, sticky glaze.
  9. Let the chicken rest in the dish for 5 minutes after removing from the oven.
  10. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Spoon any remaining glaze from the dish over the top.

Notes

For extra caramelization, after baking, transfer the chicken and sauce to a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side. If the sauce starts looking too dark during the last 10 minutes, loosely tent the dish with foil. Double the sauce if you love extra glaze for rice or vegetables.
